The participants of a panel at which the Specialised EXPO 2027 Belgrade exhibition was presented to guests at the Serbian House in Paris, agreed that this event is an opportunity to show to the world who we are and what we can do through a theme that unites rather than divides - "Play for Humanity: Sports and Music for All".
The first lady of Serbia, Tamara Vučić, emphasised that it is with great joy, but also a sense of responsibility, that we anticipate the Specialised exhibition which will be held under the slogan "Play for Humanity". Reflecting on the "Roots" exhibition that is a part of the Serbian House display, she said, "The tree that is part of the display, and its roots, withstand time, seasons, and years. The strength of the spirit is always reflected in the interplay between the past and the future, the personal and the collective, the rational and the irrational, between roots and the economy, which is at the top."
The Serbian government’s Minister of Sports, Zoran Gajić, highlighted the importance of the theme of the upcoming EXPO exhibition, "To ensure that the world sees who we are, what we are made of, and what we have to offer, we fought for the next Specialised exhibition to be organised for the first time in the Western Balkans, with a focus on a theme that unites rather than divides. The theme of EXPO 2027 Belgrade will be ‘Play for Humanity – Sports and Music for All’, emphasising the importance of movement, play, and sports as universal values and drivers of change," said Gajić.
At the panel dedicated to EXPO 2027 Belgrade, the similarities between the Olympic Games and the Specialised exhibition were highlighted. "Besides being the host of the Olympic Games, Paris is also the city where the Bureau International des Expositions is located. When the final vote was held at the assembly of the Bureau International a little over a year ago, the majority gladly voted for Serbia to be the host, which speaks volumes about the position our country holds in the world. As hosts of the Specialised exhibition, we will do our best to justify the great trust placed in us by the delegates of the BIE member countries", said Borovčanin.
Speaking on behalf of the Chamber of Commerce of Serbia, Mihajilo Vesović emphasised that a project such as this motivates us to be even more competitive on the European market, while the Serbian ambassador in Paris highlighted that we had a huge dream and managed to achieve it, so we can now proudly call ourselves the host of EXPO.
Volleyball play Ivana Nešović and sport shooter Andrea Arsović agreed that Serbia has excellent athletes and that we should show who we are at EXPO just as we are during this sports competition. Our Olympians also agreed that the Olympic Games and EXPO share common values, such as promoting unity, team spirit, and innovation and creativity through play.
As a reminder, EXPO 2027 Belgrade will be held in Belgrade from 15 May to 15 August 2027, and it is expected that more than 3 million visitors, as well as representatives from more than 120 countries, will gather in Belgrade during the 92 days of the event to present their views on the theme of the exhibition.
