At Nikola Tesla Airport in Belgrade today, in the presence of Serbia’s First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Siniša Mali, Minister of Economy Adrijana Mesarović, and Air Serbia’s CEO Jiří Marek, a new aircraft was unveiled, proudly branded with the colours of Expo 2027. As the anticipation for the Specialized Expo in Belgrade grows, this new Expo aircraft will spread the message about the upcoming event across the skies, promoting Serbia’s role as the host to over 120 nations.
„For me, Air Serbia and Expo represent two successful symbols of Serbia. There are three symbols of sovereignty - the anthem, the flag and a strong national airline. The airplane in the colours and design of Expo 2027 Belgrade will invite people from all over the world to come to our capital and Serbia, which will be the centre of the region in 2027. We expect Expo to be a key event that will help us to continue growing and leave a more successful Serbia to our children“, said First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Siniša Mali.
This visually striking aircraft will serve as a flying ambassador for Expo 2027, symbolizing Belgrade’s role as the host of this globally significant event. The aircraft's colours embody the essence of Belgrade as a city of energy, connection, and diversity, reflected through the fluid lines and vibrant hues of the Expo logo.
"In anticipation of the upcoming Expo 2027 and in the desire to contribute to the promotion of that important event for the Republic of Serbia and the entire region, we have decided that the third Air Serbia wide-body aircraft will receive the visual identity of the Specialized Exhibition. We expect that by the end of 2024, another aircraft of the same type will arrive in our fleet, which will be branded in the same way. From Chicago and New York in the West to Tianjin and Guangzhou in the East, the planes of the national airline will represent Serbia and Expo 2027 in front of a global audience," said Air Serbia Director Jirži Marek.
Just as Expo 2027 will bring together people from all over the world, this aircraft will connect cities and cultures, spreading the spirit of play and unity across continents.
"I am very proud to be here today and witness this historic moment. Although, everything about the Expo is historical. In St. Louis in 1904, the public witnessed the first flight of a powered airplane, and today, more than a century later, we continue that legacy. Each flight of this aircraft will carry not only passengers, but also the story of our vision for the future — a future where the spirit of exploration and innovation knows no bounds. As we celebrate the arrival of this magnificent aircraft, we are reminded that the sky is not the limit—it is just the beginning," said the director of EXPO 2027 d.o.o. Belgrade Dušan Borovčanin.
The aircraft has been integrated into Air Serbia’s international fleet, designated for key global routes to raise awareness of the upcoming Specialized Expo, which will be a major event not only for Belgrade but for the entire Western Balkans region.
