The exhibition marking 1000 days until the beginning of EXPO 2027 Belgrade was opened at the Sava Promenada and will be available for all citizens and visitors of Belgrade from 17th to 26th of August. The event was marked by an animation at the Belgrade Tower facade, as a reminder that Belgrade and Serbia will proudly host the whole world in 1000 days.
The “1000 days until EXPO 2027 Belgrade” exhibition shows the long history of our country's participation in International Exhibitions managed by the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE). Visitors will be able to see some of the most interesting Serbian pavilions, from the first participation in the International Exhibition in Antwerp, Belgium, when the Kingdom of Serbia was one of only 12 participating countries, up until our notable presentation at EXPO 2020 Dubai, where Serbia was presented as the land of future through the creative ideas of talented and inventive individuals, companies and organisations.
“It is a great opportunity to remember Serbia's numerous participations in International Exhibitions and the experiences we have gained as Expo participants over the last 140 years. That knowledge and experience will be a great comparative advantage in organising the events that will change not only Surčin and Belgrade, but also Serbia, and I dare say, the whole region of Western Balkans, which is hosting Expo for the first time,” said Jelena Begović, Serbian Minister of Science, Technological Development and Innovation.
A small number of citizens have had the opportunity to visit one of the Expo events around the world, and Serbia has participated in them since 1885. They are a space for exchanging ideas, knowledge and scientific achievements, but also a unique perspective on life and the world. Since Serbia is globally recognised as a country of sports, music, excellent food and beautiful nature, it is expected to host more than 4 million visitors from all over the world in 2027.
“I am very glad that Serbian Minister of Science, Technological Development and Innovation is with us today, as the Ministry manages the BIO4 Campus, a significant and complex project to be developed over the next few decades that Serbia can be proud of. This, like many other projects to be implemented by the beginning of the Specialised exhibition in 2027, will enable Serbia to present its ideas, scientific achievements and innovation to the world," said Dušan Borovčanin, EXPO 2027 Director.
As a reminder, Belgrade and Serbia will proudly host the Specialised Expo from May 15th to August 15th 2027. During the 92 days of the event, in addition to more than 4 million visitors from all over the world, Serbia will have the opportunity to present itself as a good host for more than 120 international delegations, as well as to further promote its reputation in the world and establish cooperation in numerous fields.
